无色或白色结晶粉末。无气味。味初苦后微甜,遇日光渐变深。能溶于丙酮、甘油、盐酸、沸水和苛性碱溶液,微溶于水,几乎不溶于氯仿、乙醚、石油醚和苯。对石蕊呈中性反应。0.5%水溶液pH为5.8-6.1。最大吸收波长257、313nm。半数致死量(狗,经口)2000mg/kg。有刺激性。
