Character:
易溶于水(可溶解范围约30%)和醇。还原性强,暴露于光线或加热时逐渐变色(变黑)。干燥状态下稳定性强,但在水溶液中遇空气将很快分解。水溶性1g/10mL,,能溶于水、醇和吡啶,颇溶于丙醇,微溶于甘油,其化学性质与抗坏血酸非常相似,具有同样强的还原作用。
